2007 Inductee

LAURIE GAZDALSKI GENNA
1991 graduate of Pope John High School; 1996 graduate of William
Paterson University; inducted for her accomplishments in swimming; in
high school, was seven time County Champion (out of a possible eight) in
four different events; won the Outstanding Swimming Award at the County
Championships in 1991; held five individual PJ team records upon
graduation; was County Record Holder in the 100 meter freestyle; was MSG
High School Athlete of the Week and was named New Jersey Herald Athlete
of the Month three times; was NJ Herald All Area Team and All SCIL all
four years; still holds the Pope John team record in the 100 meter
butterfly and 100 meter freestyle
At William Paterson, still holds seven team records; was Metropolitan
Conference Champion and MVP of the Conference Championships for three
years (1993, 1994, 1995); qualified for Division III National Individual
Championships in all four years; she was nine a (9) time All American;
NJAIAW Woman of the Year in 1996; inducted into the William Paterson
Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001
Coached the Pioneer Aquatic Club at William Paterson College for several
years and four years at Pines Lake in Wayne during which period the team
was league champions three years in a row;
Currently a sixth grade science teacher at Schuyler Colfax Middle School
in Wayne, NJ
