2005 Inductee
MICHAEL CALDARELLA

1977 graduate of Newton High
School; attended Miami Dade North and County College of Morris; elected
for his accomplishments in baseball, coaching and officiating; he was
named NJ Babe Ruth Player of the Year in 1975; in high school, two
varsity letters in baseball; MVP of 1977 team when he won 11 games and
lost 2 with a school record 0.77 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 87 innings;
1976 team won Sectional and SCIL championships; Star Ledger All State,
NJ Herald All Area, Daily Record All Area and All SCIL teams in 1977; in
college, won varsity letters in baseball at Miami Dade North in 1978 and
at County College of Morris in 1979
Played on Sussex County American
Legion teams 1973-1978; won League Championships in 1973, 1974 and 1975;
played sixteen years in Morris County Majors (1975-1990); played with Newton
AA and North Jersey Nationals
Coached the Newton Babe Ruth League
team 1980 and 1981; League Champions 1981; League President 1981; coached
Newton American Legion in 1992 and 1993; the 1993 Newton American Legion
team was Western Division League Champion
Officiated from 1987 to present in
baseball, softball, football and basketball; did nine high school Sectional
Championship games, one State Final game, two State Semi Final games, three
NCAA Division III Conference Championships and two Division II Conference
