    Winton H. Johnson - stephen novak - RICHARD EARL McKEEBY

    JAMES R. WRIGHT

    Winton H. Johnson

    Graduated from Newton H.S. in 1928.  Earned varsity letters in wrestling 2 years, gymnastics 3 years.  Attended Williston (Mass) Prep School 1928-1930.  Did not wrestle but earned his varsity letter in football.

    Columbia Univ. 1930-1934 where he wrestled for the Lions 3 years.  He won wrestling letters all 3 years.  He won the Kilroy Gold Medal in FRESHMAN an and Senior years.  Was undefeated in his FRESHMAN year.  Graduated from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1938 with a MD degree.  In 1941 he was Asst. backfield football coach at the US Naval Hospital in Norfolk, VA. 

    He was wrestling meet PhysicIaN at Regional High School in Bergen Co. from 1960-1978.  At the present time Dr. Johnson is the medical Director at Karen Ann Quinlan Center for Hope Hospice in Newton.

    RICHARD EARL McKEEBY 

    ATTENDED NEWTON HIGH SCHOOL WHERE HE GRADUATED IN 1953.  PLAYED FOOTBALL AND WRESTLED, EARNING VARSITY LETTERS IN BOTH SPORTS, IN HIS JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEARS.  IN 1950 HE WAS NEW JERSEY AAU, 115 LB. CLASS CHAMPION.  HE REPEATED THIS FEAT IN 1951.  WRESTLED FOR NEWTON A.A. FROM 1950-1953. 

    COLLEGE FOUND McKEEBY AT RUTGERS WHERE HE PLAYED 150 LB. FOOTBALL AND WRESTLED FROM 1953-1957.  A VARSITY LETTER WINNER FROM 1955-1957.  HIS SENIOR YEAR HE SCORED THE FASTEST PIN, 23 SECONDS.  HE GRADUATED WITH A BS-MS IN 1957. 

    IN 1957-1961 HE WAS ASST. COACH AND HEAD COACH OF RAHWAY HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAMS.  HE WAS HEAD COACH OF THE EAST BRUNSWICK RECREATION LEAGUE.  IN 1957-1972 AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE NEW JERSEY WRESTLING COACHES AND OFFICIALS ASSN.  AT THE PRESENT TIME HE IS AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN THE BIOLOGY DEPT. AT UNION COLLEGE CRANFORD, NEW JERSEY.

    stephen novak 

    attended franklin high school, where he graduated in 1930.  He played football, baseball and basketball in school.  in 1931 first in area to start weight training program.  in 1932 formed franklin community track team and was one of its top performers.  in 1935 played football on first franklin miners team.  selected to the newark star ledger all state team, in 1938 at the position of end.  played with miners till 1938.  he also worked with midget miner football team in 1935.  he has been retired for the past 6 years living in franklin.

    JAMES R. WRIGHT 

    Moved to Sparta from Great Neck, NY in 1965 where attended Sparta High School.  At Sparta he earned varsity letters in football and baseball in 1965-1966.  He made all state in 1966 at the position of end.  In 1967 earned varsity letter in baseball and made all state in his Senior year. 

    He went to UNIVERSITY of Notre Dame on a baseball scholarship.  A varsity letter winner in his Sophomore year.  In his Junior and Senior years he earned varsity letters in football.  He played in the Cotton Bowl in 1967.  Beat Texas breaking a 37 game winning streak.  He led the team in tackles in his Senior year.  All American candidate in his Senior year.  1971-1972 he had tryouts with the New York Giants, the British Columbian Lions and Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. 

    At the present time, he is the manager of Merrill Lynch in Toms River, NJ.
